Owner of Voeden HouseMeet Elizabeth
Hello!
I’m Elizabeth, one of the creators of Voeden House. I wish you could grab a seat at my island and we could get to know each other over a cup of coffee, but for now this will have to do! If you were looking around from the vantage point of my kitchen island, you would quickly get a pretty good jist of who I am and what I love.
That being said, the ones I love the most would be off living their lives, as this is our first year as official “empty nesters”! My husband Jeff and I have been married 26 years. We met on a blind date and were married when I was 19 and he was a mature 23. (Crazy kids!) You’ll always find him in some form of Carhartt, jeans and a baseball hat. (Except on Sunday when he wears a suit for church and makes my heart skip a beat) He’s a hard worker (he owns and runs a small electrical company) and a family man through and through. He’s all heart…and he has mine completely. Together we have four grown children.
Ok, back to the vantage point from my kitchen island. As you can see, I’m a…how should we put this…”plant enthusiast”? That sounds good. Never underestimate the power of a good houseplant.
I love to decorate with a good mix of old (antique, vintage) and new. Some of my favorite things to collect are vintage paint by numbers, cocktail glassware, books and dog figurines. (Bonus if it looks like our dog Sadie…which is difficult since she looks more like a raccoon…..trust me, she’s adorable!) My house is not always (ok never) perfectly clean or picked up, and I’m ok with that. There’s a place for everyone and for every activity we love to do. Speaking of, let me take you down the hall and out the screen door to my favorite room in the house, “The Porch”. It’s the quintessential wrap around porch of my dreams. It’s where we have spent countless hours watching kids run through sprinklers, deer meander across the yard, horses in the pasture, fireflies in July and our favorite….a good Michigan thunderstorm. Jeff used to wake the kids up in the middle of the night so that they could stumble down the steps with their blankets, sit on the wicker furniture and watch the lightning. If I close my eyes I can still see them all huddled together. It’s a good porch and a great house.
Making this house a home is what brings me to this place and page today. I firmly believe that our homes help shape our families. This house has definitely shaped and nurtured mine. So “hello” to all of you from our house to yours.
xoxo

A nurtured space always looks like it was put together over time and with great care. Mixing old and new grounds a space, giving it that special touch. We love finding or designing a piece specifically for your project…it’s definitely a job perk for us. For our clients, discovering what VH piece was picked out just for them is equally exciting.
